YAWA NOAA APP

Yet Another Weather App – NOAA

Real weather data, straight from the source.

YAWA pulls current conditions, forecasts, and active alerts directly from NOAA's National Weather Service — the same data used by professional meteorologists, with no middleman and no subscription.

Current Conditions

Temperature, humidity, wind speed and gusts, barometric pressure, and sky conditions updated from the nearest observation station to your location. Plus a feels-like temperature that factors in humidity, wind, and sun.

7-Day Forecast

Daily high and low temperatures, precipitation probability, and weather descriptions sourced directly from NWS forecast grids. Tap any day for a detailed narrative forecast and hourly temperature chart.

Plain-Language Summaries

Every forecast comes with a short, readable outlook — like "Sunny and hot, with a chance of showers mainly in the afternoon" — instead of just raw numbers. On supported devices these summaries are written privately on your device by on-device AI (Gemini Nano); nothing is ever sent to the cloud. Turn them on in Settings.

Weather Alerts

Active warnings, watches, and advisories sorted by severity — warnings first, then watches, advisories, and outlooks. Tap any alert for the full NWS text including what, where, when, and what to do.

Air Quality

Current US AQI and PM2.5 fine particle readings powered by Open-Meteo, updated with every refresh.

Live Radar

Animated radar loop, powered by RainViewer. See exactly what's moving toward you.

Comfort Index

Dew point-based comfort assessment combined with feels-like temperature tells you what the air actually feels like — not just what the thermometer says.

Sun and Moon data.

Multiple Locations
Save favorite cities and switch between them instantly. Receive push notifications for active weather alerts at any monitored location.

Privacy First
No accounts. No ads. No trackers. Your location is used only to fetch your weather — sent to the data providers (NOAA, Open-Meteo, RainViewer) for that purpose and cached on your device so the app opens instantly. It's never sold or used to profile you.
