Weather Brother APP

Peace of Mind. Storm or Shine.

In December of 2021, a violent tornado tore through my hometown of Mayfield, Kentucky, and in the long silence afterward I kept returning to one hard truth: the warnings that night were broad and generic, the same words for a family in a reinforced basement and a family in a mobile home alike, though their odds of surviving were nothing alike. A warning that cannot see your shelter cannot truly protect you. Weather Brother can.

I'm Dallas McKinney, a meteorologist from Mayfield who worked for NASA, the National Weather Service, and FEMA before coming home to build something my neighbors could trust. Weather Brother is the result.

WHO IT'S FOR
Western Kentucky families who take severe weather seriously — tornadoes, damaging wind, hail, flooding, ice, and snow — and are tired of guessing how much of the danger is actually theirs.

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT
Most weather sources cry wolf, because your fear is what they sell. We refuse to. Weather Brother gives you the most actionable, accurate guidance we can produce, built around your exact location and specific shelter, so when the sky turns you can be confident instead of scared. We will never tell you to ride out a tornado in a structure that won't survive it. (And no — please don't go camping during a tornado outbreak.)

The honest origin story is simpler than that: I got tired of my family and friends texting me about the weather every time a storm rolled in, so I built the app that answers them. Now everyone can have that same personal guidance, around the clock, knowing Weather Brother is watching out for them.

HOW IT WORKS
We combine official National Weather Service data, my own forecasting judgment, your location and shelter survey, and trained AI that interprets it all together, turning raw alerts into clear guidance written for you.

FEATURES

Shelter Survey — Six simple questions, and because almost no two households shelter alike, 864,000 unique answer combinations behind them. Your answers shape every piece of storm and preparedness guidance you receive. Change where you ride out a storm? Update the survey, and your guidance follows you.

AI Summary — A short, plain-language paragraph on what today actually means for your location. It rewrites itself every time the forecast changes and folds in your shelter survey, so the forecast is focused on you, not the whole county.

Daily Weather Data — Current conditions, an hourly forecast, a 7-day forecast, and sunrise and sunset times for your exact spot. These are basic on purpose. For anything deeper, just ask the...

AI Meteorologist — Ask it anything about the weather, and it answers using your location, your shelter survey, and any active warnings. It is trained on ten years of my real forecasts and guidance — except it is faster, and it never has to sleep. (Sorry, Dallas. You've been replaced.)

Customized Notifications — Tired of being jolted awake because a severe thunderstorm "threatens" your brick house? Need to know the moment your leaky basement is about to flood? Worried about the church bus parked under a tree clear across the county? Set alerts for what matters to you, with an adjustable alert radius, quiet hours, and — most important — break-through alerts for tornadoes that sound through silent and Do Not Disturb.

Alerts Tab — Clear, specific guidance on what to do to stay safe, with plain explanations of what each alert actually means, if you want them. When the National Weather Service clears every alert, you'll see an "All Clear." No more wondering whether it is finally over. Go ahead and breathe that sigh of relief.

Radar Map — See it coming for yourself: animated radar, NWS warning polygons, and my guidance on where storms are headed and how bad they'll get — for your location and across the entire United States.

Built in Mayfield, for the people who live where the storms land.
