Side Out - Pickleball Scoring

Keeping score in pickleball on a watch should be the easy part, not another thing to fumble with between points. Side Out is a one-screen scorekeeper for Wear OS, so you glance at your wrist, press and hold, and get back to the game. It pairs with a full phone app that keeps score on its own too — but the wrist is where it shines.

The idea is simple: you tell it who won the rally and it figures out the rest. Points, serve rotation, side-outs, the second server, the score you call out before you serve. You don't have to keep any of the rules in your head.

HOW YOU SCORE
The screen splits into two zones. Top is the opponent, bottom is you. You press and hold the side that won the rally. It's a hold on purpose, that way a stray tap in the middle of a point can't mess up your score. If your watch has an assignable button you can use that instead, a short press scores for the server and a long press scores for the receiver.

REAL SIDE-OUT SCORING
It follows standard USA Pickleball rules and works it all out for you:
- Only the serving side can score, so when you lose a rally the serve goes over.
- A glowing ball parks in the serving quadrant the whole time, so one glance shows who's serving and which court, right or left. In doubles it carries the server number too.
- Doubles second-server tracking, including the 0-0-2 start.
- Singles or doubles, play to 11, 15, or 21 — win by two, or a hard cap if that's how your group plays.
- An optional buzz at the halfway score to switch ends, off unless you want it.

YOU WON'T LOSE A GAME
- There's an always-on mode that keeps a sparse, low-power scoreboard up with burn-in protection, so a game survives the screen timing out.
- The score sticks around through the app closing and even a reboot.
- You can undo any rally, including the game-winning point and across a side-out.
- Starting a new game asks you twice, so you can't wipe out a score by accident.

AND THE PHONE KEEPS SCORE TOO
The watch is still the best way to run a game. It's already on your wrist between points, so there's nothing to hold and nothing to dig out of a bag. But the phone app keeps score now too. Left the watch at home, or don't own one? Start the game on the phone, it scores the same way and follows the same rules. Use both and the score follows you around: put a rally in from the wrist, glance at the phone on the bench, or hand the phone to a friend and let them keep score for a while. It all stays in sync. And if you turn the phone sideways it becomes a big courtside scoreboard you can prop up at the net for both teams to read.

After the game it keeps your history, grouped into the sessions you played. Tag who was across the net and who partnered up, and it builds head-to-head records so you can see how you stack up against the people you play most. A stats view tracks your win-loss record, win rate, and your current and longest streaks. Finished a good run? Share a recap card to your group chat. You can also fill in older games by hand, delete ones you don't want, and cap how many the phone keeps. It walks through how the scoring works. And it can open the scoreboard on your watch with a tap, so if the app isn't already up you're not fishing for it on the small screen.
