FreeAir - widget for PurpleAir APP
See your sensor's current Air Quality Index (AQI) at a glance, color-coded by EPA category, refreshed automatically throughout the day. Tap the widget to jump straight to that sensor's live page on PurpleAir's map.
HOW IT WORKS
• Add the FreeAir widget to your home screen
• Enter a free PurpleAir API key — FreeAir links you straight to PurpleAir's site to get one, then verifies it works before letting you continue
• Enter your sensor's ID. Paste it in almost any form — a full PurpleAir "widget code" snippet, a URL, or just the number — and FreeAir will sort out the right value automatically
• That's it. Your widget starts showing live readings
FEATURES
• Resizable widget (down to 2×1) that keeps its layout instead of reflowing awkwardly
• Add multiple widgets, each pointed at a different sensor
• Automatic background refresh, tuned for battery efficiency
PRIVACY, BY DESIGN
FreeAir doesn't collect, store, or share any personal information. There's no account, no tracking, no analytics. Your PurpleAir API key and sensor ID are stored only on your device, used only to fetch your sensor's data directly from PurpleAir's own servers.
OPEN SOURCE
FreeAir is free and open source. Browse the code, file an issue, or contribute on GitHub: https://github.com/SeanColombo/freeair
FreeAir requires a free PurpleAir account and access to a PurpleAir sensor (yours, a neighbor's, or any public sensor on the map) to use. This app is not affiliated with or endorsed by PurpleAir.
