Founded in 1994, Cubanet is a non-profit digital press outlet, dedicated to promoting the alternative press in Cuba and reporting on the reality of the island.

CubaNet's support for alternative journalism and civil society in Cuba is based on our conception that in any type of regime, civil society is the most effective instrument for the individual to exercise their rights and make a greater contribution to their community, while seeking greater personal well-being. Citizens need to organize themselves in solid institutions to balance the power of the government, the most structured social institution.

We publish the full range of opinions of Cuba's independent journalists. The opinions of the columnists do not necessarily reflect that of Cubanet.

Cubanet maintains an active presence on the main social networks and also uses a free email service to distribute a Daily Bulletin with the news and articles published each day on the portal.
