ChoreStars uses Android's AccessibilityService API on the child's device — with parental consent — as part of its parental control features. The service detects only which app is currently open, so that daily screen-time limits set by the parent can pause apps when time is up and app-usage time can be shown to the parent. It never reads screen content, messages, passwords, or anything typed, and this data is never shared or used for ads. The feature is optional and can be turned off anytime in the device's Accessibility settings.
