BoatTest

BoatTest is a marine performance testing app for small boats and outboard engines.

The app helps you test your boat during real navigation, measure GPS speed at different engine RPM levels, calculate propeller slip, and view the results in tables, charts and a PDF report.

BoatTest is designed for boat owners, marine mechanics, propeller sellers and anyone who wants to better understand how their boat performs through the RPM range.

What BoatTest does:

• guides you through a step-by-step boat performance test
• measures GPS speed in knots
• records average speed at each RPM step
• calculates theoretical propeller speed
• calculates propeller slip
• displays RPM / speed / slip results in a table
• shows an RPM – speed chart
• shows an RPM – propeller slip chart
• calculates operating regime limits using Froude number
• creates a PDF report for sharing or saving

How it works:

Enter the basic boat and propeller data:

• waterline length
• propeller diameter
• propeller pitch
• gear ratio
• rated maximum engine RPM

Then start the guided test.

For each RPM step, hold a steady course and stable throttle. When the speed is stable, press RECORD. BoatTest records GPS speed for a few seconds and saves the average speed for that RPM.

The app repeats the process through the RPM range and then asks for the actual maximum RPM reached at full throttle.

After the test, BoatTest displays:

• recorded GPS speed
• calculated propeller slip
• operating regime limits
• RPM – speed chart
• RPM – slip chart
• PDF performance report

Important note:

BoatTest uses GPS location only to measure speed and record the test position.

Results depend on GPS accuracy, sea conditions, wind, current, boat load, trim, hull condition and the accuracy of the entered propeller and engine data.
