Play true Bergen domino rules with a standard double-six set (28 tiles). Choose 2, 3, or 4 players: each player is dealt 6 tiles at a 2–3 player table, or 5 tiles each with 4 players, and the rest go to the boneyard. The highest double leads the first round—or the highest tile if no one holds a double—and the previous round's winner opens the next. Match the rank of your tile to an open end, draw from the boneyard whenever you can't move, and pass only once the boneyard is empty. Doubles always sit crosswise, the layout grows on two ends only, and there is no spinner—just honest, classic domino play.

SCORING THAT REWARDS SKILL

In Bergen, the points live at the ends. Make both open ends show the same rank for a Double Header and score 2 points; do it with a double sitting on one end for a Triple Header and bank 3 points. Close out a round by playing your last tile—or, if every player is blocked, by holding the fewest pips—and take 1 point for the round (tie on lowest pips and nobody scores).
